High-elongation Foil Strain Gages
Overview
Developed to measure strain from elastic to plastic region on structures, the KFEL series foil gages allow the strain to be measured as large as 10% to 15% with simple tension strain.
Technical Information
Major Properties
Materials Resistive element CuNi alloy foil
Materials Base Polyimide
Operating temperature in combination with major adhesives after curing (°C) CC-36: -10 to 80ºC
Operating temperature in combination with major leadwire cables (°C) Polyester-coated copper wire: -10 to 80ºC
Vinyl-coated flat cable (L-6, L-7): -10 to 80ºC
Self-temperature-compensation (°C) -
Applicable linear expansion coefficients (×10^-6/℃) -
Strain limits at normal temp. (approx. %) 15
Fatigue lives at normal temp. (times) 1x10^6 (±1500μm/m)
Contents
When ordering, suffix the lead-wire cable code to the model number with a space in between.
KFEL-5-120-C1 with a vinyl-coated flat 2-wire cable 10 m long pre-attached
→ KFEL-5-120-C1 L10M2R
KFEL-5-120-D35 with a vinyl-coated flat 3-wire cable 5 m long pre-attached
→ KFEL-5-120-D35 L5M3S
If no lead-wire cable code is suffixed, the gage is delivered with gage leads only.
(Silver-covered copper wires 25 mm long)
Remarks
Besides the usual surface treatment with sandpaper, the gage bonding surface should be treated with the surface treatment agent S-9B if the gage is bonded to non-adhesive plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene.
Then, bond the gage using the adhesive CC-36.
